The sea, once it casts its spell, holds one in its net of wonder forever.
— Jacques Cousteau

A quieter way to pursue the extraordinary.

Elegance without excess, adventure without compromise. The elegant superyacht Sea Diamond is a 90’ ketch designed by Philip Rhodes and built by German shipyard Abeking Rasmussen in 1956. She embodies the height of luxury and is the centre of attention wherever she goes. For the first time, Sea Diamond is now available for charter in Panama.

A RARE EXAMPLE OF NAUTICAL HISTORY

The unique and beautiful luxury yacht Sea Diamond is a 90’ ketch designed by Philip Rhodes and built by German Shipyard Abeking Rasmussen in 1956.  She has had regular refits, the last completed in 2022.   Over $8,000,000 was spent bringing her back to perfection.

There are 5 cabins in all.  Accommodation for up to 6 guests include a large master suite with queen bed, a cabin with two beds and a single bed cabin with large desk that converts to a bed for a child, with ensuites.  The crew quarters are in the bow of the boat, ensuring privacy for guests.  The yacht is fully air conditioned, with Starlink internet connection.

Sea Diamond has two saloons, the upper saloon with Italian leather seating, an integrated tv behind a navigation desk, and a mahogany dining table that seats 6 comfortably.  Raised mahogany panelling is almost entirely solid timber throughout the boat.  The lower saloon has a large formal dining table that accommodates 10 people.  Opposite there is a full bar with seating, coffee table, and ice maker.   The benches on both sides are Italian leather.  Board games and another television are available here.  There is a day head adjoining the lower saloon.

Above deck, the helm area is covered and can seat 6 to 8 people for dinner or drinks, a very popular spot.  Towards the bow of the boat, another table with cushioned banquette and teak chairs is a favourite for breakfast, before-dinner drinks or casual dining, seating 6 or more.  There are three long comfortable sunbeds on the upper deck in front of the helm.  Aft there are two steamer lounges, a BBQ, and a vintage Scopinich fighting chair for fishing.  Visitors have caught sailfish, tuna, mahi-mahi here in Panama on the way to the Pearl Islands.  We have extensive fishing gear, snorkelling and scuba equipment, a 16’ Zodiac tender and a canoe for paddling to the islands.  There is a large inflatable for towing behind the Zodiac.  From June through November whale watching provides constant delight.

Sea Diamond is based in Panama at Flamenco Marina with a full time Captain and two crew members.  She has hosted many celebrities over the years, including four US Presidents, Elvis Presley, Queen Elizabeth and Prince Phillip.

The engine room has two diesel engines, Detroit 621s, for propulsion and two diesel generators.  There are two large stabilisers and a 15’ retractable keel, which raises up to give us a 6’ draft, which is very convenient for a boat of this size.  We cruise comfortably at 9 knots.

Shaped by the skilled hands of craftsmen who harmonised their respective mediums to form a cohesive masterpiece during her extensive refits, she is truly one of a kind.

The weekend begins with intention, not urgency. Sea Diamond departs as the coast slips quietly astern. The passage itself is part of the experience—steady, elegant sailing that allows guests to disconnect gradually from life ashore.

Days are shaped by choice. Mornings may begin early for those drawn to the water, with lines set from the fishing chair as the boat holds her position just off the islands.

In the afternoons we may choose a different island. Anchor is dropped in clear water, Solitarie is lowered for a quiet beach landing, or guests remain aboard with a book and a breeze. Lunch is unforced and unstructured. Sailing resumes when it feels right, not when a schedule demands it.

Evenings belong to the boat. The light fades across the islands, one last walk along the island beach at sunset, decks are cleared, and dinner is served beneath canvas or stars depending on the night.

Nights are spent at anchor in protected coves or under gentle sail, the motion constant and reassuring. Cabins offer privacy and comfort, while the soft sounds of water against the hull remind you that you are fully away—yet entirely at ease.

By Sunday, the return feels unhurried. There may be one last session on the lines, a final sail along the island chain, or simply coffee on deck as the mainland reappears. Guests return not with stories of spectacle, but with something rarer: a sense of having lived well for a few days, guided by wind, water, and restraint.

WEEKLY CHARTER UP TO 6 PEOPLE
$26,000.00

A 5-day adventure in the Las Perlas chain of islands offers a stunning island escape just hours from Panama City. A multi day itinerary allows for leisurely island-hopping, world-class whale watching (June through November), secluded beachcombing and sport fishing for marlin, sailfish, tuna and mahi-mahi..

Sea Diamond departs Flamenco Marina early at 8 am, offering guests a buffet breakfast on deck while they settle down to enjoy the trip, keeping an eye out for the dolphins and whales, and curious sea birds. Aft, the fishing lines are set out and hopefully the fighting chair comes into its own as Sea Diamond works proven waters on the way to the islands.

A casual lunch is served on deck. We arrive at our first island, anchoring offshore in the protected waters and the afternoon stretches ahead.

For the more active, the Zodiac Solitarie will drop you off at the deserted beaches to swim or explore, watch the hermit crabs in their borrowed shells and collect coconuts or wild mangoes in season. Alternatively, whale watching might be on the itinerary.

The blow-up inflatable is available to be taken for a spin behind Solitarie, or a guest might like to fully embrace the beauty of the island alone on the kayak. Snorkelling and fishing from the boat are always available.

Others might like to unwind with a book and a glass of wine, play backgammon, chess or Monopoly, occasionally swimming from the platform of the boat in the clear waters.

As the sun is setting, cocktails and snacks are served on deck where guests relate their day’s adventures. Dinner under the stars by candlelight is provided by our experienced and talented chef. All wines, beers, soft drinks, and meals are supplied.

Cabins are private and comfortable, and the gentle rocking of the waves ensures a sound sleep.

Each day is relaxed and tailored to our guests’ wishes. We will discuss with you which islands you might like to visit, food preferences, where the whales are, or where the fish are biting.

We are open to your suggestions to customise the adventure for your particular group. Just get in touch so we can start planning!

DAY TRIP TO TABOGA ISLAND

Full Day (8 hours)

Our Zodiac Solitarie will ferry guests to the island to explore or just relax on the beach. The kayak and blow-up inflatable raft are available for the more active, along with fishing and snorkelling equipment on board.

A casual lunch is served on deck, with local beers, wines and soft drinks.
